Annoucements for the week of April 4

Jesus, both heard and seen!
Today we celebrate both Believer’s Baptism (6:00 PM Family Gathering) and the Lord’s Supper (8:00 & 10:45 AM Worship Services).  Both of these are vitally important to our worship of the living God.

Believer’s Baptism, a step of obedience to Christ, both identifies this person as a follower of Christ and pictures their new union with Christ in his death, burial and resurrection.  It declares in picture form the beginning of a new life!

The Lord’s Supper is an ongoing act of worship in which Christ’s servants share bread and wine in memory of their crucified, risen Lord.  It is also a celebration of the new covenant relationship with God made possible by Christ’s death.  It declares in picture form our continual connection with Christ

Participation in these ordinances of the church  as a way to gain favorable status with God is meaningless without prior repentance and faith in Christ.  These commands are given by Christ to his followers as means of remembrance, obedience, renewal and proclamation of the good news that sinners can be made right with their creator God.

As the preaching of the Word makes the good news of Jesus audible, so these ordinances make it visible.  Listen and watch this morning.  You may both hear and see in a new way the hopelessness of bearing the burden of your personal guilt and sin before a holy God, and the beauty and reality of being in union with the living Christ, our sin bearer.  We are praying that the truth of Jesus will move through your ears and eyes to your soul as you understand, turn from your sin and trust Jesus with your life.
